The world is upside down

Up is down.  Black is white.  I just don’t know what to think.  The Big Game has come and gone and it was actually a good game.  That almost never happens.  Never.  But wait, there’s more.  Not only was The Big Game an entertaining football game, the commercials, sucked.  Sucked.  (sorry mom)  Yes, that’s right.  The commercials are usually the best part.  But not this year.

However, I did learn that there are many excellent movies coming up:

• Fast & Furious 6 – I love the Fast & Furious movies.  I.  Love.  Them.  I already can’t wait for this.
• Iron Man 3 – Robert Downey Jr.  Need I say more?
• Oz the Great and Powerful – oooohhh
• Star Trek into the Darkness – Chris Pines.  Hello Chris Pines.

Apparently, I am going to be busy this spring/summer.

 

Born to Ham-Dog

And what is a Hamdog you may ask?  It is a hamburger shaped like a hot dog.  My sister made them yesterday for the Super Bowl.  They were…intriguing.  Her description on her blog.  I will just post a couple quick photos for the uninitiated:

I will admit they look a little disturbing, but they taste good.  And the beauty of the hamdog (according to the packaging on the mold) is that you don’t need to buy two kinds of buns.  Beacause your hamburger will conveniently fit in a hot dog bun.  How handy!

I put ranch dressing on mine, which probably negated any health benefits associated with using ground turkey instead of ground beef.  Oh well.  The diet starts today.

Super Bowl Ads

I know there have been millions upon millions of words written about this year’s batch of ads.  So here are just a few more to throw on the pile.

Frankly, I thought it was kind of a weak year.  But here are my two favorites:

Groundhog day

Well, it’s Groundhog Day, but who really cares about that?  Frankly, I am pretty sure we are in for six more weeks of winter no matter what the groundhog says.  Stupid groundhog.

It is also the day after the Super Bowl.  A game that Super Kurt Warner could not win, even with the help of the rest of the Cardinals, much to the dismay of the Iowa press.

 

The commercial crop this year was a bit disappointing.  Here were our favorites.  I had to link to them on the Hulu site instead of embedding them.  Sorry.

 

The Doritos crystal ball ad and this Pepsi Max ad had my children howling with laughter.

 

Tom and I were partial to this Career Builders ad.

But, sadly we did not get the one second Miller High Life ad.  Here it is:

 Here are some that didn’t quite make the cut.  I think Miller definitely wins the prize this year.  (My favorite is “One Mississippi)

Happy Super Bowl

So later today fine Iowa Boy Kurt Warner will don his super hero cape and single-handedly defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl.  Or at least that is what the local papers would have you believe.  It’s getting old.

I don’t really care much about the Super Bowl.  It’s a good excuse to eat pizza and chips with guacamole, but it’s usually not a good game, and since neither of the Manning Boys are playing, I really don’t care about the outcome.  The commercials are the best part, and the old Bud Bowl ads were the best.  So here, in it’s entirety is Bud Bowl I from 1988:
