Today was the first day of school. Freedom! Horrible, horrible freedom! Woo hoo! It was almost as good as Christmas. Notice I said almost as good. If moms got presents on the first day of school it would be as good as Christmas.
Don’t take that the wrong way. I love my kids to distraction, but we have spent an awful lot of time together this year. They have been on summer break since last Christmas and I need a vacation.
Here they are in their annual photos. Don’t they look happy? (not)
Poor Princess O was a nervous wreck. I’m not sure why. Probably because she missed the last half of fourth grade while we were in Rome, and because this is her last year of elementary school. Next year she goes to Middle School. God help us all.
The C-man on the other hand was his usual self. He claims not to like school, but I think he secretly enjoys it. He had a substitute teacher today. On the very first day! Can you imagine? But he has the same teacher Princess O had in third grade, so I know all will be well.
Meanwhile, Her Royal Highness had good things to say about Mrs. S so I think this bodes well for the year to come.
I will of course be spending my new free time eating bon-bons and fooling around on the computer.
