The Iowa State Fair has begun. It started yesterday and runs until the 17th. We will be attending on Monday with a variety of Tom’s family members who are flying in from Virginia and Maine for the event. I hope it doesn’t disappoint.
I am not sure what we will do at the fair this year. Probably the same stuff we do every year. Look at the horses. See the giant pig and say: “wow, that’s a really big pig”. (Actually I think they are officially referred to as hogs). Eat lots of food. Drink Lemon Shake-Ups, and wonder what kind of sadistic soul put the lamburgers stand right outside the sheep barn.
We also seem to spend more and more time on the Boardwalk now that the children have discovered the carnival rides.
The Iowa State Fair is famous for many things, including a giant cow made out of butter (I am not even kidding) and a wide assortment of food items sold on sticks. I plan to make a list of food on sticks on Monday to share with you, so be sure to stay tuned.
I think Tom might be doing a book signing at some point during the fair, but I don’t know when, other than it won’t be Monday. Here is a shameless plug for his book:
You can get it from Amazon.
I’m sure there will be more to report after Monday.
